“Course of employment” refers to the activities and tasks that an employee performs as part of their job responsibilities while on the clock. It is a legal concept used to determine whether an employer can be held liable for the actions of an employee. If an employee’s actions occur within the scope of their employment duties and while they are performing their job, the employer may be held responsible for any harm or damages caused by those actions. However, if the employee’s actions are outside the scope of their employment or occur during personal time, the employer may not be held liable. Determining whether an action falls within the course of employment often involves examining factors such as the nature of the job, the time and place of the incident, and whether the actions were authorisd or foreseeable by the employer.
