The right of audience is the legal right granted to a person to represent or speak on behalf of another party in a court of law. It allows individuals, typically lawyers or advocates, to appear before a court or tribunal and present arguments, examine witnesses, and make submissions on behalf of their clients. In many legal systems, the right of audience is subject to certain qualifications and requirements, such as obtaining a law degree, completing a period of legal training, and being admitted to the bar or a professional regulatory body. The right of an individual to speak in court on behalf of another person. Until quite recently, this right in the UK was limited to barristers. Now, solicitors can apply for this right; at the time of writing, approximately 1,000 UK solicitors have rights of audience in the various courts.
