A grantor is an individual or entity that transfers ownership of property or assets to another party through a legal instrument such as a deed, trust, or will. The grantor is typically the seller or giver in the transaction and is responsible for conveying legal title or interest in the property to the recipient, known as the grantee. In real estate transactions, the grantor is the party selling or transferring the property, while in trust agreements, the grantor is the person who establishes the trust and places assets into it for the benefit of beneficiaries. The grantor may also be referred to as the “transferor” or “donor” depending on the context of the transaction.
