In legal contexts, a disability refers to a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, such as walking, seeing, hearing, or learning. Disabilities can be temporary or permanent and may require accommodations to ensure equal access and opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) aim to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities by prohibiting discrimination in areas such as employment, public accommodations, transportation, and telecommunications. Additionally, disability benefits may be available to eligible individuals to provide financial assistance and support.
