LEAN: Leaning towards something indicates a preference or agreement. For instance, a judge may lean towards a particular side in a court case, indicating their belief in its righteousness. Leaning can also imply yielding or surrendering to someone or something.

A court may express a favorable or unfavorable view towards an advocate’s position by saying that it “leans toward” or “leans against” it. To give in or surrender.
