Near refers to being in close proximity to something, as well as being closely related or almost connected to something or someone. In patent law, a claim is a statement that outlines the distinctive characteristics of an invention and establishes the extent of the patent’s protection. There are various types of claims, including closed-ended claims that restrict the scope to a specific list of elements, and open-ended claims that include a nonexclusive list of elements.
Examples demonstrate the various ways in which “near” can be employed to depict different forms of closeness, including physical proximity, intensity, familial connections, or familiarity.
– It is possible to be charged with a crime if you are near the scene of a crime, but the prosecution must prove that you were involved in some way.
– It depends on the specific circumstances of the accident. If you were negligent in some way that contributed to the accident, you could be held liable.
– You cannot be arrested simply for being near a protest or demonstration, as long as you are not breaking any laws or inciting violence.
– You can be charged with trespassing if you are on someone else’s property without their permission, regardless of whether you are near the property or not.
– If you are near someone who has a restraining order against you, you could be charged with harassment, especially if you are violating the terms of the restraining order.

– You could be charged with a crime if you were near someone who was in possession of illegal drugs, especially if you were aware of the drugs and did nothing to report it.
– You could be held responsible for a dog attack if you were near the owner and the dog and had some level of control or responsibility for the dog’s behavior.
– You could be charged with a crime if you were near a minor who was engaging in illegal activity, especially if you were in a position of authority or responsibility over the minor.
