A partial verdict is a legal decision made by a jury in a trial where they reach a conclusion on some but not all of the charges or claims presented. In cases where the evidence and arguments have been considered for multiple counts or causes of action, the jury may find the defendant guilty or liable on some charges while remaining undecided or deadlocked on others. This can occur for various reasons, including insufficient evidence, differing interpretations of the law, or disagreements among jurors. A partial verdict allows the court to proceed with the resolution of those charges or claims on which the jury has reached a consensus while potentially requiring further deliberation or retrial for the unresolved issues.
