Aggravated burglary is typically considered a more serious offence than simple burglary due to the heightened risk of harm to individuals and the increased level of criminal intent. Penalties for aggravated burglary vary depending on jurisdiction but often include significant prison sentences and fines.
Aggravated burglary is an offence under section 10 of the Theft Act (1968) and is made out when a person commits a Burglary and at the time has with him any firearm, imitation firearm, any offensive weapon or an explosive.
